"The circle as an artistic element runs through my creative work since childhood.
The geometric shape of the circle is a symbol of unity, perfection, the sun and the whole universe. As a line without beginning and end, it stands for infinity and the return. In magic, the circle is considered a symbol of protection against evil spirits. Circular amulets and rings are therefore said to have a protective function. For me personally, the circle represents perfection, centering, power and tranquility.
The Light-(w)hole was the first round light object of my new cycle of works. I wanted to create a clear form that would draw the eye. Therefore, I realized that I had to break the circle and put a round hole asymmetrically in it. I like to break up strict symmetries to give a work more tension. Nevertheless, the final form can never be predicted in this kind of sculptural work. It emerges in the process, which is often very complex and contains unexpected challenges and surprises.
The "light_(w)hole" captivates through its discreet light penetrating the surface inside, the curved asymmetrical surface and through the numerous suspension possibilities at the back of the object."
