"For me, the choice of a new object form always depends strongly on the phase of life I am currently in. What is occupying me? Which external and internal processes are going on at the moment? What time of year am I in? What inspires me?
The I-light was created during the Corona Lockdown. This time was a true blessing for me because I was able to spend a lot of time in my studio. I have unique memories of that time. Bright sun almost every day, the sky blue like never before. Everything relaxed and decelerated. Spring in top form, carried by departure and new beginnings. The world in an eggshell.
In numerous religions and myths, the egg was seen as a symbol of becoming and creation. For when the shell breaks open, new life comes forth. The egg symbolizes the origin and germ of all life, that is, the entire cosmos. The egg also represents fertility and abundance. The mostly white, smooth shell also embodies purity, innocence, fragility and perfection.
The I-Light, in contrast, is very stable and hard. The feathers give the artwork a soft touch. The power of the object results from the contrast of light and dark feathers and the different surfaces. Finally, by illuminating from within, all contrasts are cancelled out."
