2020, Mixed Media on canvas, 110 x 100 cm (WxH)
About the artist
Barbara Wallner was born in Vienna.
After longer residences in Los Angeles and Frankfurt, she returned to Vienna and completed her studies with Prof. Helmut Margreiter (painting) and Eva Kindl (painting technique), among others.
The artist lives and works in Vienna.
Her technique is "Mixed Media", she works with different materials such as coal, chalk, sand, pigments or collages.
"I would like to open a window with surprises and questions, over the border of the externally perceivable. I like the colourfulness, the luminous joy, also in the ductus of the artistic play. I love strong contrasts that are identical with the clear language of color."
Helene Karmasin about Barbara Wallner:
"The pictures of Babara Wallner have a magical and soulful quality for me. The energy and power that distinguishes Barbara Wallner, her authenticity and creative intelligence seem to be directly poured into these pictures and are transferred. They are centres of energy and power, they stimulate us to experience them, to enjoy them, to become lost in them, to develop fantasies.
Impressive in all paintings of Barbara Wallner is her use of colour. She has a broad spectrum: glowing or soft, radiant, light as a feather, calming, vital, life-affirming.
The effect of these pictures is further enhanced by the fact that sand or marble flour is often mixed with the colours, so that they gain strength and body and can be built up in layers that allow new insights again and again.
Her portraits, which sensitively express the uniqueness of a person, also possess a great fascination.
