Aluminium Cast Cube Painting Red Edition 1/20
2017, Aluminium Cast, 25 x 25 x 18 cm (WxHxD)
Long ago, the artist Christian Stock began to paint cubes out of several thousand layers of paint. I link the video at the end.
An average of three layers of paint are applied per day. So you can imagine the patience and endurance needed to complete a cube of this size. It took about 2 years. Therefore the number of finished painted cubes is very limited.
Christian Stock wanted to duplicate two of his painted cubes. In this case he took his red cube and made a negative form out of it so that this aluminum cube could be casted. The casting is very detailed, so that even the individual layers of color are visible. The edition is limited and is at exactly 20 pieces. From this edition this cube is the number 1, the first of its kind.
