About the artist

CHRISTOPHER HANSCHITZ

Artistery's team comment:
The autodidactic artist Chris Hanschitz is recommended and curated to our gallery by the initiative "Junge Kunst" for the promotion of young artists:
"I just want to paint," Chris Hanschitz, born in 1995, feels not only euphoria, but an urge to paint. In his portraits, he captures personalities and types who reflect the representative characters of our society.
In the painting process with acrylic and oil on large canvas formats or paper, he personifies the deep core of stereotypes with strong colours. The portrayed persons are very close to the viewer, and the size of the format demands a confrontation between viewer and work. These characters are no longer captured in their superficiality, but rather in an abstraction of personal stories and experiences. He portrays and documents.
As a video maker, editor and (nude) photographer, he knows how to look beyond what he has seen and how to capture what is private and personal in the picture. With critical or loving observation, Chris captures the beauty and brutality of a truth in his painting. An in-depth look at emotions, thoughts, experiences and lifestyles. A deep-seated honest core of a stereotype or a person. This representation of curious and enchanting characters tells contemporary myths and captures the viewer in experiencing stories of the colourful, extraordinary icons of our society.
