Get in the ring
2015, Collage, mixed media on canvas, 110 x 80 x 4 cm (WxHxD)
The mortality of the individual is the theme. In this stadium-like environment, the individual human being is depicted as a rectangular piece of paper. The individual is lost in the crowd. This drowning or extinction is symbolized by the headlights, which in this scenario do not illuminate the individual human being, but fade out the individual human beings in their immediate surroundings through their light. The light of the spotlight extinguishes the people around the spotlight for the observer.

About the work
The main focus of Florian Lang lies in the collage. Motifs from the world of consumerism are reproduced with scissors or a knife and get a new function in his pictures. The artist deals with the depiction of people, his staging and his urge to stage himself and his appearance in masses. In his collages, space is broken up and a play with dimensions begins.
Apart from exhibitions at home and abroad, Florian Lang's framework as a freelance artist extends far. He produced several Music videos. He was the sound park band of the month with his band Le Toy FM 4.
He toured all over Austria and half of Europe. Made several stage designs for various Austrian theatres. Developed together with Franzobel a comic and two photo series for the accessory label Eva Blut. Collaborations with historians and architects have made it possible to exhibit in public spaces.
Florian Lang spent residencies in Italy, Poland, Hungary, Germany and Austria.
He has twice won the Förderpreis für bildende Kunst in Burgenland and is represented with his collages in various collections.
