2019, Acrylic on canvas, 80 x 100 cm (WxH); incl. wooden frame in beech with shadow gap
"The Reader" was created for deceleration, it suggests a deep concentration to the viewer. A concentration that has a very calming effect in an often fast-paced and hectic world.
The artist was inspired by an older man who devoured a book in a café next to him. The reader was so immersed in it that he did not even look up when the waiter dropped a full tray of plattes to the floor just 3 meters away. It seemed like he was somewhere else.
About the artist
The artist currently lives and works in Tyrol.
He was already fascinated by art as a child and he never let go.
His own standards are very high. For fifteen years he worked in secrecy - exclusively for himself - and only in 2019 did he finally achieve his self-imposed quality goals with his art.
The works presented here are the result of fifteen years of artistic development. Artistery's is proud to present these works exclusively and to present the artist Peter Zunder for the first time on the art market.
His paintings often deal with banal scenes from everyday life.
But behind his works there is often more than you can imagine.
Peter Zunder's works are characterized by a very elementary and clear stroke, the brush stroke is very energetic.
The colours are applied selectively and not mixed on the canvas.
The choice of colours is very bright but limited, the painting ground is not completely filled with colour but integrated into the composition.
