Two Bottles of Vienna
2015, Gouache on canvas, 80 x 120 cm (WxH)
Series "Two bottles of ..."
A series of seven works each showing two plastic bottles.
These banal mass products are bathed in a mysterious, romantic light.
The shadows they cast through interaction in strong sunlight merge with each other and become an independent object.
Due to the subtle colouring and the finely changing light reflections of the water, the bottles appear almost poetic and yet at the same time are very sober objects. This is what makes these pictures so subversive.
These plastic bottles exist all over the world, in megacities as well as in small villages somewhere.
The artist has named the works after places in the world that are important to her, mean something to her, or with which she connects memories.
