Two Shirts are here III
2013, Pencil, gouache on paper, 50 x 70 cm (WxH), framed, behind glas
Sibylle Gieselmann almost always works in series. She tells her stories mostly through several pictures, which makes the "story" that she creates while painting, or that the viewer sees, very moving and varied.
In each of these three graphics, two shirts can be seen interacting. Here the associations and stories they trigger in the viewer are much earthier and real.
The shirts are more physical; they argue or love each other or they turn away from each other. They literally stick on and into each other, they are strongly connected to each other.
The shirts are very present in the here and now, they tell of emotional events and thus draw the viewer into one’s own story.
Again, strong contrasts of light and shadow were used.
They are pencil drawings on strong transparent paper, whereby lights were set with white gouache color.
