Be a Hyperrealist
2019, Acrylic on canvas, 100 x 100 x 4 cm (WxHxD)
Series: Visual Superfood
The life stories of fascinating personalities, who shape the world through their entrepreneurialism, fueled the artist to identify principles that can create an extraordinary life. Specifically, she drew on three habits: being bold, dealing with fear, and striving for an adventurous life. The artist occasionally translated these principles by using contrasting colors, dynamic elements, and movement within the paintings. Moreover, she used spontaneous and bold gestures to unify multiple layers, meant to engage the viewer’s attention and sustain their focus.
In our current culture, many of us strive to gain attention to the point that it is hard to stand out. Yet, what we surround ourselves with on a daily basis reflects our inner feelings and beliefs. This series helps people to fuel their creative thinking and to find new (and viable) solutions to navigate a digitalized and information-overloaded world. The goal is to remind people to take action to create what they want out of life.

About the artist
Viktoria Koestler was born and raised in Germany, and currently lives in Zurich.
After completing a degree in psychology and working for an international strategy and management consultancy, Viktoria devoted her attention to her artwork receiving training from Chelsea College of Arts (London) and Sotheby’s Institute of Art (New York City). Viktoria has been exhibiting her artwork in major cities across Europe, the United States, and the United Kingdom, and is currently focused on exhibitions in New York City and Zurich.
Viktoria combines oil and acrylic paints, often on wood panels. Her signature style of bold and expressive brush strokes over multiple opaque and transparent layers feature brilliant, vibrant, and high-contrast colors. Viktoria’s gold gilding craftwork accentuates the value and uniqueness of her creations. Her semi-abstract style is inspired by natural landscapes – including figurative and representational elements. The conversations she has with extraordinary personalities deeply influence the energy of each piece of art.
Viktoria’s calling is to create bold artwork for people who wake up each morning with the intention to make a difference in our world – for people with strong visions and ambitious goals. The underlying theme in Viktoria’s artwork is how to create a successful life by overcoming past regrets, roles, and societal beliefs.
In a world where almost everything is accessible to everyone, she wants to emphasize that authentic experiences contain elements of good and bad, birth and death, and love and hate. Viktoria artistically transfers these seeming contradictions into her artwork through combining unusual materials like gold and graffiti spray paint, organic forms and harsh edges, high contrasting colors, and the use of materials that wouldn’t normally be used in traditional painting techniques.
Viktoria’s pieces are distinguished by a striking red that spans the outer surface of the stretched canvasses or wood panels (varying in thickness from 2–12 cm). This hallmark nods to the name: RedOutside.
For the edges, Viktoria used a bold lacquer red that displayed a glossy finish. All original artwork is stamped with the RedOutside logo, a registered trademark.
