"The titles of paintings can have a meaning; they can be a contrast to the picture or they might indicate a further level.
In the current case there are three elementary signs - the circle, the cross and the line. These three signs can be read as a word that means No in Greek. 2015, the year in which this artwork was painted, was a referendum in Greece. That summer I spent in Greece and came across the word OXI everywhere I went. It was a call for resistance. Apart from the Greek population’s fight for the economic situation, I sympathize with protest as such as it usually leads to a balance.
